ABOUT ME
I'm an Experience Designer and Digital Product Strategist with fifteen years of professional experience.
I deliver engaging and inventive solutions for complex challenges across all digital channels, whether web, app, IoT, voice or experiential.
By marrying usability with efficient workflows and strategic alignment, I deliver solutions that meet user needs, contribute to organisational success and turn complex problems into engaging solutions.
MY APPROACH
-
My approach to UX design draws from a blend of psychology, communication, and design. By combining insights from psychology with fundamental design principles, I strive to craft user-friendly and engaging solutions. Despite the ever-changing landscape of UX, I've found that this approach remains consistently effective.
-
I'm experienced in conducting extensive user and market research to uncover user preferences, behaviours, and pain points, ensuring that designs and strategies are rooted in a deep understanding and empathy for the end user. I synthesised findings into actionable insights and concrete action plans for product road maps. Most recently, for MBition, Elia/ 50Hertz and a mental health start-up.
-
As part of UX Design Ops, I look into better integrating UX methodologies into agile development processes. In previous projects, this included refining and updating UX guidelines to align with evolving user expectations and rapidly expanding internal development teams by evolving and maintaining design and prototyping pattern libraries across various digital platforms and apps, while fostering a culture of collaboration and communication.
-
With a knack for synthesising complex data and research insights, I'm adept at translating strategy into actionable product plans, from crafting long-term roadmaps by identifying emerging trends and opportunities, whether it's refining existing strategies or charting new territories.
-
As a part of the content strategy, I focus on setting clear goals and crafting intentional plans to achieve and maintain clarity through content. I aim to connect people to the information they need while creating experiences that engage and resonate. I'm also experienced in writing and guiding UX copy for complex processes.
Work
Unfortunately, due to confidentiality agreements, I am very limited in what I am allowed to show or talk about in an online portfolio. But if you want to see some more detailed use cases or hear about how I work, contact me, and I'll be happy to talk you through my work or send you a portfolio.
MBition - MercedesME companion app
2021 - 2023
MBition was established in 2018 as the in-house design and software division for mobile applications, in-car entertainment, and navigation features.
I joined the company at the start of 2021 as an Expert UX/UI Designer and took on UX Design and Management duties. I started in the team for the Mercedes companion app and later moved into the newly established overarching UX and Research Team.
YND - Cash Advance Product B2B
2019 - 2020
A proof and development of a product for a fixed-term small business loan, white label solution.
Initially partnered with Wirecard as the money launderer. - Lender. I mean lender, of course.
I sketched out the entire product life cycle from the initial loan offer, sign-up, and backend approval process to the repayment view of the loan.
After a few smaller product pivots due to the pandemic and, well, Wirecard, the product was used as the basis for the start-up BanxWare, which went on to be one of the most successful FinTech start-ups in recent years.
Boston Consulting Digital Venture - Mental Health Start-up
2020
I collaborated closely with product managers and strategic designers, identifying and filling product gaps and generating user and content concepts to ensure future growth. This included user sign-up, course booking, course content and structure, and the therapist's dashboard.
I was also tasked with translating the scientific content into a digital, easily digestible and entertaining format and testing said formats with users and mental health professionals.
‘DESTINATION DENIM’ Amazon Fashion Days
2019
Amazon organised a 4-day event in order to launch Denim Apparel on their site. The event aimed to help the customers to find their perfect pair of jeans and I was fortunate enough to work with the absolute fantastic people at ‘Make Associates’ in London.
'Discover Your Perfect Pair' was a voice-controlled styling experience with Alexa as its backbone. The user described their style preferences in a futuristic dressing room and given live-filtered results on the perfect pair of jeans from Amazon's vast stock.
A few more projects
-
A.T.U.
A.T.U. has over 530 garages in Germany alone. I was the lead UX for omnichannel digital transformation projects, including a site relaunch with all processes, such as user account management, service booking, and purchases. Always in close dialogue with the workers in the garage and their customers.
-
Conrad
I spent two years working with Conrad on developing their mobile landscape. We launched iOS and Android apps and a separate mobile shop, all with reworked user-centred processes, allowing for a flawless customer experience that seamlessly ties in with their physical shop.
-
Volkswagen
Back then, when Flash was the bee's knees, UX was still IA. The Volkswagen UK relaunch set a new standard for automotive websites and was used as an example for new UI and UX patterns in general. You can still find examples of the site in industry books today. The site's Design and UX stood up to the test of time, although Flash didn't.
-
Audi
I worked on many projects with Razorfish on their client, Audi. I helped with award-winning model launch campaigns for several years and established a used-car sale website.
-
University lecturer
I was asked to take over the Digital Design module of the BA Communication Design course at the Hochschule der Wirtschaft und Technik (HTW) in Berlin. I updated and reworked the module curriculum and lectured and mentored over thirty students for a semester.
-
Mobile banking app
he app allows users to pay via NFC, manage transactions, and transfer money to other users. The aim was to build an app that fits into a modern lifestyle. This was back when banking apps were nothing but a glint in the eyes of angel investors, and it was great to see these first concepts grow into something so much more significant.
-
NOKIA HERE
Nokia contracted me for six months to work on their Ovi Maps product. This was back when mapping products were still relatively new and the race between map providers was on. I was lucky enough to help bring many new features to market, such as 3D navigation and routing.
